2013 in review and goals for 2014

It feels like this year has been totally, and completely mental. So many good and bad things have happened, and I know that I am not the same person now that I was this time last year.
There have been some serious medical cases, some operations and heck, my Dad went to hospital for some kind of crazy medical test and they killed him for 14 seconds! WHAT? I know...he's fine by the way.
I have also had one of THE BEST years so far, I've finished at the hell hole of a Secondary School.
I've started my 'future' career already, taking Illustration in my Fine Art Degree.
One of my closest friends was (don't worry she's 30) married in May and is now expecting a baby in March (the same week as my birthday!).
I gained and then lost a job, I lost my job because I was very ill for a while. Still pretty pissed about that. But to be honest I wanted to quit anyway, so when the time came I took it.
I made some new friends, and tried to take part a little more in things, I'm still trying to 'take part' but I have to admit I do like smaller outings. But I think that's okay.
I had two AMAZING holidays this year, I'm SO lucky! My favourite was in Orlando, which you can actually see here in my VayKay Vlogs.
I met Gary the Snail.
I'm really lucky to have gone around Eastern Europe as well this summer, and really want to re-visit Finland, Russia and Estonia.
I've also become obsessed with 'The Hobbit' but refuse to read the book until the movie series finishes. Simply because I have enjoyed the movies so much...but more on that in the New Year.
So, my plans for 2014?
Well...I'll be applying for Uni in January, and hopefully will start in September next year. I already have my first choice and I have my heart set on it, which is good for me because it means I'll actually want to work for it.
I'll be turning 19, which sounds really strange. It also means I'm a year away from turning 20, I will never have a 1 at the beginning of my name again, unless I'm lucky! (Well that escalated quickly)
I will hopefully be expanding my line in my ETSY shop - 'The Ever After Nook'. I have a couple of awesome 'geekdom' things planned.
I want to start doing more tutorials on here and on YouTube. I'd like to hit 70 subscribers on YouTube before my birthday in March (fingers crossed). And I would like to take part in some kind of 'challenge' I'm definitely considering a nail challenge.
But I'll let you know when I get there, also I intend to improve on my acrylic nails skills...because I CAN DO THEM NOW! But my left pinky just popped off as I got it caught in my USB drive when piking up my laptop to write this (whilst listening to The Hobbit of course).
I'm also intending to develop my style, luckily my four new friends at College are fashion students...yay! And I intend to pay my parents back as much as possible.
I won't be getting a new job, or even looking for one up until springtime. Because I'm now realising how much I HATED my job!
I want to develop my hair skills too.
2014 for me is going to be a year of developing, I want to improve on my skills and myself. I'm now about half a stone lighter than I was this time last year, and feeling VERY happy about it! But I want to keep going.
Thanks to all of YOU for reading and sticking with me! It means more than you can imagine, that all the time and effort I've put in is actually paying off and you guys LIKE my stuff!

OOTD - Well hey there Mr Wolf

I know, I've only ever done one OOTD on my blog. But I kinda want to get into them, my friend Emma does one every week, whilst I won't be able to do that many, I want to do some.
So this week, I took a little trip out for lunch with my Mum, Nan and some of her friends to Ashdown Park Hotel. It was lovely and the food was so yummy! Particularly the dessert. YUM!
I almost always nowadays have some kind of 'theme' I dress to when I'm going out, this one was 'Red Riding Hood'. Simply because that is one of my all-time favourite fairytales, and I really like the colour red at the moment.
Cardigan - M&S
Bag - Ted Baker
Boots - The shop has since closed down
(sorry for the fuzziness)
I hope you guys liked this outfit! Look out for some more coming soon! I tend to dress better in the winter, as there are more formal occasions!

London's Borough Market

I LOVE going up to London at Christmas time, it's just so much fun seeing all the decorations and lights. So when I had the chance to go up to Borough Market yesterday I jumped at it! It was PACKED with people as always, but all the stalls were selling something Christmassy. I saw the HUGEST loaf of bread at the bread stall, and the Mushroom pate is ah-mazing, especially on steak! YUM! I also went into a little cake shop and had a very tasty raspberry cupcake, and if you go soon you MUST try the salted caramel macarons on the pastry stand, ERMAGHERD! I ate three! I've been motivated to try and make some, so come this Wednesday my kitchen will turn into baking zone! Here are a few pictures from my trip.
Can you tell there was a LOT of cheese? Sometimes it really sucks being lactose intolerant! EURGH! Anyway, this was less than half the pictures I took of cheese, but if you guys can I'd definitely recommend getting up to Borough Market before Christmas. You can buy make your own gingerbread reindeer kits, and for those who don't like to bake, the gingerbread is already made, all you have to do is assemble it!
Also, how ah-mazing do those raspberry cupcakes look? YUM! The curly wurly chocolate brownies from this shop were amazing too.

LUSH Review - Golden Wonder

So after Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter mentioned that these bath bombs were her favourite because they were turquoise with gold stars, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy one (or two). Let's just say I was NOT disappointed!
To start with the bath bomb looks like a sparkle-covered golden present with a white bow, I think it's a nice touch having the bow a different colour.
If you were to crack one of these beautiful little bath bombs open, you would see a little turquoise 'gift' inside, made up of two halves. Inside that are little orange and yellow circles, which kinda look like red blood cells in shape.
The real magic happens when you drop this thing in your bathwater, BLIMEY! The water turns bright turquoise, and slowly but surely you will see little gold stars appear in the bath water. These stars somehow dissolve which I think is awesome, because it means you're not left washing down your tub after a luxurious bath.
Let's move on to scent, what I like about this is that the cognac scent isn't too strong, which I have found in some of LUSH's other products. For some reason, this bath bomb reminds me of hotel bathrooms in Florida...why I've no idea. It's comforting, slightly orangey, and champagney. You can't smell the alcohol scents too strongly, which as I mentioned before I like. It has the same scent as Celebrate body lotion.
For the price point of £3.50 you're definitely getting your money's worth. It's a big bath bomb, between the size of So White and Secret Santa, and you can definitely get two baths out of this if you want! What I like is that with this bath bomb, you can take it apart and have a shimmery creamy bath with the outer layer. Then a crazy glitter/colour fest with the inner cube. So you can get two totally different baths out of one bath bomb!
To say I love this bath bomb, would be an understatement. This is the ONLY bath bomb I have so far gone out and duplicated on purpose (others I've HAD to duplicate because they broke and were intended for giveaways...so I'm using up the broken ones and sending out all new ones from online).
The reason the above pictures are in the plastic packaging is because I can't bring myself to take the bath bomb out before my bath, I'm sorry but I LIKE the plastic packaging. Whilst I do appreciate the paper from the stores as it is MUCH more eco-friendly, the plastic allows for less fragrance oil and colour leakage.
What do you think of the Christmas offerings from LUSH this year? Have you tried Golden Wonder

5 Christmas Gift ideas for Mums

Since I did 5 ideas for Dads, I guess you could say that 5 ideas for Mums was pretty much the natural development... So here's 5 ideas for gifts for your Mum (aunt/sister/nan), I tried to choose a couple of different price ranges, ranging from less expensive to pricey bits and bobs!
I chose to add the gift box because hey, who doesn't like a little pamper sesh now and then? Plus I like LUSH more than the Body Shop, but they also have some great gift sets. It's always nice to have a lippy that stays on, and with Mums rushing around doing things, Maybelline's 24hr lipstick is perfect! Creating a perfectly tailored eyeshadow palette is great, because you can personalise it to your Mum's eyes and taste. My Mum likes to cook, and has asked for Gino's book for Christmas, but you could always substitute this for any other kinda book, or even a Kindle voucher! Dad and I bought Mum a KitchenAid last year, and we can't fathom living without it any more. It's an expensive but brilliant and useful gift, you could split the price between other family members or siblings!
